Smriti Mandhana’s world record centurion knock powered India Women to claim another big win, as the record-holding seven-time Asia Cup champions India Women have comfortably advanced to the Semifinals of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2026.
In the Group A match on Thursday night (3rd September), Hong Kong Women chose to field first. While India Women scored 193/5 in 20 overs, Hong Kong Women were bundled out for only 56 runs, as India Women won by 137 runs.
Opener Smriti Mandhana batted powerfully, as her batting was enough to set a strong total. India Women had a 74-run opening partnership in eight overs, where Shafali Verma scored 28 off 17 balls with three fours and two sixes. While there were no more 15+ knocks in that innings, as the other double-digit scorers were Pratika Rawal (10), Richa Ghosh (11), and captain Harmanpreet Kaur (10), Mandhana scored her second WT20I century in style.
After completing her fifty in 40 balls, Mandhana reached the 100-run mark in 57 balls. With the help of 14 fours and seven sixes, she scored 124 runs off 64 balls before getting run out in the final over. Among the Hong Kong bowlers, Marina Lamplough (2/46) got two wickets.
In reply, only the opener and captain Natasha Miles (15), no.3 Yasmin Daswani (11), and no.5 Marina Lamplough (14) managed to score double-digit runs.
Deepti Sharma picked up three wickets with the bowling figures of 3-0-9-3. Meanwhile, Nandani Sharma (2/6), Prema Rawat (2/12), and Shree Charani (2/16) took two wickets each.
Smriti Mandhana hit a century in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup
After Sri Lankan Chamari Athapaththu, who scored 119 not out against Malaysia Women in 2024, Smriti Mandhana became the second batter to hit a century in the history of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup.

Smriti Mandhana broke Sri Lankan legend Chamari Athapaththu’s 119 not out record (against Malaysia Women in 2024) to set a new record for the highest score in the history of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup.
It is also the highest WT20I score by an Indian, while the previous record was 112 by Smriti Mandhana against England Women in 2025.
Smriti Mandhana recorded her second Women’s T20I century
Mandhana became the first Indian to record more than one Women’s T20I century.
It was the third WT20I century by an Indian. After Harmanpreet Kaur became the first Indian to record a WT20I century with 103 vs New Zealand Women in 2018, Mandhana recorded the next two WT20I hundreds for India Women.
Smriti Mandhana recorded her 18th women’s international century
It is the new record for most centuries in the history of women’s international cricket. Australian Meg Lanning and South African Laura Wolvaardt are jointly in the next place with 17 centuries each in women’s international cricket.

India Women won by 137 runs
India Women recorded their third-largest victory margin (by runs) in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup. Their record victory margin is winning by 142 runs, which was recorded twice, against Hong Kong Women in 2012 and against Malaysia Women in 2018.
It was the sixth-largest victory margin (by runs) in the history of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup.
