Kostov joined the Red Star Belgrade youth academy at just seven years old and progressed through every age group, quickly gaining attention for his talent. He became known for his powerful long-range shooting and memorable performances, including a goal in the youth “eternal derby” against rivals Partizan that helped secure a Red Star victory. Even as one of the youngest players on the pitch, he showed confidence by taking and scoring a stylish Panenka penalty. His development was rewarded on 14 November 2024 when he signed a contract extension keeping him at the club until 2027. In January 2025 he was promoted from the U-19 side to the first team and soon made his debut in a friendly against OFK Beograd. After being named in a SuperLiga squad in February, he finally made his league debut in April as a substitute against the same opponent.
