Barcelona win La Liga 2025-26 Season

Barcelona successfully defended their La Liga honor with a comfortable 2-0 El Clasico victory over Real Madrid in the euphoric atmosphere at Camp Nou in the 2025-26 season defined by sheer dominance and the indication of them becoming serial league winners again. It is their 29th La Liga title in history and the third one in four years. The Clasico victory ensured Barcelona opened up an unreachable 14 points tally over their rivals in the second place condemning them to another trophyless season while the Catalan giants keep flying high under their genius boss Hansi Flick. The side wrapped up the title with three games still remaining in the season and had the chance to shatter more records on the way.

It was another powerful showing from the host, also wanting to give their ailing manager who stayed with the team despite losing his father before the game. It took just seven minutes for the deadlock to be broken with Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford scoring a stunning free-kick past an outstretched Thibaut Courtois after Ferran Torres was fouled on the edge of the box by Antonio Rudiger. The Spaniard would then go on to add the sealer in the 17th minute after a fantastic flick from Dani Olmo from Fermin Lopez's cross to rifle home. Barcelona could have added more to their tally if they had taken the other clear cut chances but they will be least bothered about it as the runaway winners indulged into trophy lift celebration with several milestones set.

Here are the records Barcelona set after winning the 2025-26 La Liga title:

First league title by Clasico victory

It is the first time Barcelona won the La Liga after triumphing in the El Clasico over their bitter rivals Real Madrid. Only twice before in the competition's history has the title been decided in this manner as a direct result of a meeting between Barca and Real Madrid in the storied history of El Clasico. The previous instances happened way back in 1932 when the Los Blancos secured the honor ahead of Athletic Club with a draw in this fixture. With this victory, Barcelona have now leveled on Clasico wins with Real Madrid. In 264 competitive Clasico matches, both teams have registered 106 victories to their name and have shared points in the remaining 52 encounters.

Scoring streak

With the two goals in the Clasico win, the Catalan giants ensured that they have found the back of the net in 55 consecutive matches in La Liga. This is a new club record for the side who established the scoring streak at the end of 2024, spanning all of 2025 and now going strong this year as well. The last time they failed to score in the league was a 1-0 loss to Leganes on 15 December 2024. In this calendar year, the side have now found the back of the net 43 times which is the first time in 82 years it has ever happened. The all-time La Liga record of scoring streak is 64 set by Barcelona themselves from February 2012 to October 2013 and if Hansi Flick's side continue their scoring spree, it is the only time that record will be broken. However, they have the chance to achieve the unprecedented feat of becoming the first team in the league history to complete a full season while scoring in every game in the competition.

Winning habit

The 2-0 victory also meant the club has recorded its 20th win this year in all competitions, 15 of those coming in the La Liga itself. This impressive run across 18 matches played since January 1st has been the driving force behind their successful title defence. They reached 46 victories in 2025 and have already reached half of that tally in just four months this year which means they can break their all-time winning record of 51 in a calendar year set during Luis Enrique's MSN era in 2015. It will go on to show the exceptional impact Barcelona has produced under Hansi Flick if it has still not convinced someone of their un-denying supremacy.

Only 18

Despite being ruled out of the season with a thigh injury and hence missing the title clinching El Clasico victory, generational talent Lamine Yamal will enjoy his third La Liga honor with Barcelona since breaking out in the first team and becoming a full starter only in 2023-24 season. The scary part is he achieved it only at the age of 18, it's hard to find out if anyone else has found such success at a tender age but that's not even the craziest part. With this achievement, the left winger has even suppressed a certain Cristiano Ronaldo who won two Spanish titles in his entire Real Madrid career which is a mind boggling stat in every sense. While Yamal has little to do for his first title won in the 2022-23 season, the prodigy has a significant role to play in the other two. He delivered 23 goal contributions in last season's La Liga triumph and even bettered his tally this time in even lesser games due to injury cutting his season short. Yamal made an increase in his goal count with 16 strikes, seven more than last time and delivering season high 11 assists counting to 27 goal contributions.

Titles to savour

It is not only Yamal that celebrated the milestone with this honor, other members of the squad also reached unprecedented individual bests. Veteran striker Robert Lewandowski did not enjoy a goal flurry campaign like the previous ones, 27 he scored last season, due to constant injury problems and losing his place to Ferran Torres but his 13 goals contributed to yet another title winning campaign. Like Yamal, he enjoyed a third La Liga honor at the Catalan giants and in doing so, set a magnificent record of winning the league title in 14 out of the 18 seasons he’s played in his career. Starting with a league title victory in his second season with boyhood club Lech Poznan in Poland, he won the Bundesliga twice with Dortmund and in each of the seven seasons he spent with Bayern Munich. Meanwhile, Joao Cancelo also enjoyed La Liga success after joining Barcelona only in January on loan from Saudi giants Al Hilal. The fullback became the first player this century to win four of Europe’s top five leagues. Cancelo had already won the Premier League, Serie A, Bundesliga and can now add La Liga to that list, having also won Portugal's Primeira Liga earlier in his career.

The Boss

However, Barcelona would not have hit the heights again if Hansi Flick did not take the task of making a financially ridden club back to its best by restoring its DNA of success since appointed to the role in the summer of 2024. Now having overseen Barca's 28th and 29th Spanish titles, the German boss became just the fourth coach to win LaLiga in each of his first two seasons in charge of the club this century, after Pep Guardiola, Luis Enrique and Ernesto Valverde. His achievement of a league double might top the chart ahead of the rest because of the state of the club he took the job in. Notably, Flick has never lost a league title in his professional coaching career, winning the championship in every top-flight season he has managed, having won the Bundesliga twice with Bayern Munich before. In just two seasons, he has delivered five domestic titles with the latest one coming with another El Clasico victory, becoming the first manager to win six of his first seven El Clasicos, even more than Pep Guardiola who managed five. Managing the side to an 11th straight league win, he became the third-fastest manager in Barcelona's history to reach 50 wins, achieved in 67 games, surpassed only by Luis Enrique (60) and Helenio Herrera (64).

Records still to play for

As of the title-clinching match, Barcelona maintained a flawless home record of winning all 17 games played at the Lluis Companies and later at the renovated Spotify Camp Nou combined for the 2025–26 season. They are just one win away from completing the perfect winning record at home, something not achieved by them since 1960 and only two clubs have done before in the La Liga. However, no team in the modern era of the league has ever won every single home game in a 38-match season. If Barcelona win their remaining three games, they would also reach a century of points. It will equal the record points tally in La Liga history, achieved only twice, achieved by them in 2012-13 under Tito Vilanova while their rivals set it for the first time in the league's history the season before that.
