Alexis Mac Allister put Argentina 1-0 ahead with a header, while Dan Ndoye scored the equaliser in the 67th minute. However, in the 72nd minute, Switzerland got a major blow when Breel Embolo received his second yellow card of the match, which converted to a red card.

72’: Breel Embolo (Switzerland) – Red Card for 2 Yellow Cards in the Match

  • Breel Embolo was the first booking of the game in the 44th minute when he fouled Leandro Paredes while attempting a tackle. Later, Embolo and Paredes had another connection in the 70th minute, while the Swiss forward was down. Although Paredes was shown a yellow card at that time, the VAR intervened due to a mistaken identity. After the referee observed the incident on the monitor, he cancelled Paredes’ yellow card and showed the second yellow card of the match to Embolo for diving that autmotically converted to a red card.

How many matches will Breel Embolo miss?

Breel Embolo will miss one game due to the red card. As Switzerland have been eliminated from the tournament, the forward will serve a one-match suspension outside the competition.

The match went down to extra time with the 1-1 scoreline. In the 112th minute, Julián Álvarez put Argentina 2-1 ahead before Lautaro Martínez secured the 3-1 win at the early stoppage time.
