Manchester United vs Tottenham Hotspur ended in a 2-0 win for Michael Carrick's side, and it was Bruno Fernandes who stole the show with yet another fantastic performance. Bruno put up a brilliant performance in his preferred number 10 midfield position, and finished off the game in style with an 81st minute goal to ensure all 3 points for Man Utd.
The Portuguese midfielder has been one of the rare United players this season who has excelled for both Ruben Amorim and caretaker manager Michael Carrick, who now has three wins in a row against the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal, and now Tottenham.
What Bruno Fernandes said after his heroics in Manchester United's 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur
The following were Bruno Fernandes' statements after the game against Spurs, as he was speaking to TNT Sports after the full-time whistle:
“When we win games the confidence goes higher and higher,”
“It is very important for us to maintain the focus and not overdo it now. This is very good and very nice but we need to keep going.
“If you don’t win the next one and the next one you will get back into the same place where you don’t feel comfortable, you lose confidence and struggle to believe in everything you have been doing until now.
“But, we have been doing very well until now to do everything that Michael and the staff have been asking of us and we have been very brave taking responsibility in some moments in the game to go and play and do whatever you need to do to win the game.
“The main focus is the next game, it’s four wins in a row, this one is nice, but we need to make it five now
Our opinion on Bruno Fernandes' statements and his season so far
The above statements from Bruno Fernandes is the perfect example of a world-class player with an elite mindset. There is absolutely no doubt that Manchester United would've been in a much better place in the past few years if there were at least a few more players in the club that had the same elite mindset of Bruno Fernandes. Instead of celebrating the victory and his brilliant performance, the Portuguese gave such a mature response that highlights his special winning-mindset and need for one to maintain calmness despite being in a highly successful phase.
There were mixed opinions earlier in the season when Bruno Fernandes was heavily linked with a transfer to Saudi Arabia, and many fans were even disappointed when United went against selling the player for such a high transfer fee. However, not even a single Manchester United fan would be complaining now considering how brilliant Bruno has been this season.
He now has 6 goals and 12 assists in just 21 Premier League appearances this season. These numbers are truly exceptional, and absolutely unbelievable when one considers Bruno was playing the majority of the season in a more defensive number 8 role under Ruben Amorim. Bruno Fernandes has arguably been the best player in the Premier League so far this season, and the only reason why he won't end up with any major individual awards after the season would be due to the collective failure of Manchester United as a team and club.
