Beyond the seven-goal thriller, the victory also saw Chelsea achieve a remarkable Premier League feat.
Xabi Alonso's Chelsea are only the second side ever to score in the opening four minutes of both of their first two Premier League games of a season, after Bolton Wanderers in 2002-03.
That makes Chelsea's start under Alonso particularly noteworthy. Scoring so early in consecutive opening fixtures highlights the intensity and attacking intent the Blues have brought to the beginning of the campaign.
