Givairo Read Transfer News

An exclusive report from Plettigoal has stated that Dutch right-back Givairo Read remains a high priority for Bayern Munich, and the German club have even begun concrete talks with his agents. Read currently plays for Feyenrood, and has already made 12 appearances for the club this season so far in the Eredivisie. The Dutch club is currently managed by former Arsenal and Manchester United player Robin Van Persie, who once said the following about the player:

"Givairo plays like he’s been in the first team for years. His decision-making and leadership are exceptional for his age."

Bayern Munich have been interested in Arsenal Target Givairo Read for a long time

The exclusive Plettigoal report also mentions that Bayern Munich are facing huge competition for the Read from several Premier League clubs. Read had been previously linked with Arsenal, and the Dutch defender also once revealed his affection for Liverpool. Plettigoal have also stated that any Bayern deal for Read also depends on whether Bayern's young right-back Sacha Boey leaves the club or not

Bayern and Arsenal Target Givairo Read's Career so far

Givairo Read has risen rapidly through Dutch football, earning a reputation as one of the most exciting young full-backs of his generation. He began his journey at AVV Zeeburgia before joining FC Volendam’s academy in 2017, where he developed across multiple positions. His talent became obvious early. In March 2022, at just 15 years old, he debuted for Jong Volendam in the Dutch third tier, becoming the youngest player and later the youngest goalscorer in the competition’s history.

Read made his Eredivisie debut for Volendam in March 2023, but his career took a decisive turn that summer when he rejected a new deal and signed for Feyenoord. Convinced by Robin van Persie, he joined their academy and immediately stood out, winning individual awards, shining in youth tournaments, and scoring on his UEFA Youth League debut. By early 2024, he was already training with the first team and made his senior European debut against AS Roma in the Europa League.

The 2024–25 season marked his full breakthrough. Read featured in domestic and European competitions, scored his first senior goal, and impressed in the Champions League, earning a place in UEFA’s Team of the Week. Injuries to senior players opened the door for him to become Feyenoord’s first-choice right-back, and he seized the moment. A standout performance against FC Twente saw him record three assists, making him the youngest player to do so in an Eredivisie match since Wesley Sneijder. His consistency earned him the Johan Cruyff Talent of the Month award and a contract extension until 2029.

Internationally, Read has been equally influential. After progressing through the Netherlands under-17 and under-19 teams, he captained the under-19 side to European Championship glory in 2026, playing a decisive role in the final against Spain and earning a place in UEFA’s Team of the Tournament. He has also made his debut for the Netherlands under-21s, underlining his growing stature.

Despite a late-2025 injury setback, Read’s leadership qualities were recognised when he was named Feyenoord’s third captain. By the end of 2025, statistical analysts ranked him as the best player born since 2006 outside Europe’s top five leagues, a fitting reflection of a meteoric rise that still feels like only the beginning.

Will Bayern Munich end up signing Givairo Read? Our opinion

Although it's too early to give a definite opinion on this transfer story, our prediction is that Bayern Munich are right now the most likely club to eventually sign the player when he decides to leave Feyenrood. The reason we say this is due to the fact Plettigoal has once come up with an earlier report regarding Bayern's interest in the player, different from the one they recently posted. This means that Bayern have been closely following the player for a very long time, and hence the interest must be huge from the German club's side. So as it stands, we feel Givairo Read to Bayern is inevitable, unless some other club joins this transfer saga and spoils the party for Bayern.
