Ousmane Dembélé could hardly have asked for a better start to Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League title defence. The Ballon d’Or winner scored twice inside the opening 23 minutes as PSG stormed past Slovan Bratislava 6-1 at the Parc des Princes, immediately reminding Europe why he remains one of the most dangerous players on the continent.
Dembélé opened the scoring in the 17th minute by reacting quickest after Nuno Mendes’ effort struck the post. Six minutes later, he doubled PSG’s advantage with a header. He then turned provider, setting up Ferran Torres for PSG’s third before half-time. Torres eventually completed a hat-trick, while Fabián Ruiz added another late on.
Dembélé Enters the Champions League History Books
The brace was about much more than simply helping PSG secure three points.
Dembélé’s second goal took his Champions League tally to 30 goals, moving him ahead of David Trezeguet’s 29 and making him the fifth-highest-scoring French player in Champions League history.

It is another remarkable milestone for a player whose Champions League career has increasingly become synonymous with decisive performances. UEFA’s records had Dembélé on 28 goals before the new campaign, meaning his two-goal performance immediately propelled him beyond Trezeguet.
And considering the company above him, Dembélé’s achievement deserves plenty of attention. Benzema, Mbappé, Henry and Griezmann are four of France’s greatest attacking stars, making Dembélé’s place among them another indication of how far his career has developed.
