Rebin Sulaka Red Card vs Senegal in FIFA World Cup 2026

Iraq crashed out from the FIFA World Cup 2026 after they suffered a 5-0 defeat against Senegal in their last Group I match. After this result, all the other three Group I teams advanced to the Round of 32, as France (9 points) and Norway (6 points) finished top two places, and Senegal also later qualified by confirming among the top eight third-placed teams with three points and +2 goal difference.

Meanwhile, Iraq have been eliminated from the group stage after conceding 12 goals and scoring one goal, as they lost all their three matches in the competition. While Norway beat them by 4-1, France defeated them by 3-0.

In the must-win game with only a little hope for the best eight third-placed finish, Iraq conceded the first goal against Senegal in just the fourth minute. In the 13th minute, Rebin Sulaka received a direct red card that forced the Asian side to go down to 10 men that hugely disturbed them, as they were ultimately thrashed 5-0.

13’: Rebin Sulaka (Iraq) – Direct Red Card for DOGSO Offence

  • While Sadio Mane was approaching the goal, the Iranian centre back Rebin Sulaka pulled him down. Sulaka was initially given a yellow card, but after the VAR intervention, as the referee checked the incident on the monitor, he received a direct red card. It was noted as the DOGSO (Denying an Obvious Goal-Scoring Opportunity) offence.

What is next for Rebin Sulaka?

  • Rebin Sulaka will receive a one-match suspension for the red card. As the team has been eliminated from the FIFA World Cup 2026, his suspension will be served outside the tournament.
