Six Teams Likely to End Up in the Relegation Battle During the 2022-2023 EPL Season

With the new season getting closer to the start date, we see incredible actions in the transfer window. Teams are trying to improve their squad and create better tactics for the new season. Nobody wants to be part of the relegation battle that could cause unnecessary fatigue to the squad.

However, with a competitive team, some teams have to be in the bottom zone, and there is no escaping the battle. Aside from betting at the best online casino, you can also check out the outright odds for the season. We think a few teams would end up in the relegation battle; some are new in the league.

Therefore, with three spots in the relegation zone, we think the following teams would have to fight their way out of the zone, and three of them won’t make it for the 2023/2024 EPL season. Let’s get into it.

Fulham

The Championship winners last season are notorious for bouncing from the EPL back to the second division after one season in recent years. Therefore, it is a no-brainer that they are one of the top six picks for teams that would likely be part of the relegation battle. Their playing style shows that the team is still leaking goals in the defense.

As a result, they would struggle in the EPL. The team would have to work on their game to ensure they do not make the same mistake they did a while back. Therefore, they would first have to get a better defensive strategy and ensure that they do not try to out-attack the top teams. If not, they might not make it out of the battle.

Leeds

After a narrow escape from doom last season, the team is set to lose two of its hottest players, whose absence caused them to struggle. In that case, they would have to find a way to get the squad together and improve their playing style. However, they would suffer if they couldn’t get reinforcement for the players leaving.

The team has some incredible attacking prowess, but that doesn’t mean anything if they keep conceding goals, which was their problem last season. And we haven’t seen a change since that time. Therefore, we expect them to struggle in the bottom half of the league table, and they might even relegate.

Bournemouth

After relegation in the 2019/2020 season, Bournemouth is returning to the English Premier League, but with the league’s toughness, we don’t think they would last. They did well in the Championship last season, and their reward was finishing second to gain automatic qualification. As a result, they are back in the league.

However, we believe they would also struggle in the relegation battle because it will not be easy for the team. They will have to work hard if they want to stay for another season. Therefore, their biggest hope is based on if other teams would slip up throughout the season. That way, they can capitalize on it and secure a place in the safe zone.

Brentford

After returning to the EPL after 70+ years away, Brentford was a delight, especially in the first half of the season. Many teams, including the top clubs, struggled to break them down. However, towards the end of the season, they were in shambles, and it showed as they could not play as they did early on in the season.

There is a good chance the team won't be relegated next season, but we think they would be locked in the battle. They can only escape it if they bring in new players to strengthen the squad, especially since teams can now make five changes. Therefore, it would be easy to get more players on when the ones on the pitch are tired.

Nottingham Forest

Since the 90s, Nottingham Forest has been absent from the English Premier League. The team has been trying to make it back to top-flight, but it has been challenging. Therefore, as they got the chance to make it back, it was exciting to see them take it and make their way back to the fray for the new season.

Unfortunately, we don’t think the new season would be kind to the team because it would be more challenging than they are used to. However, they are one of the teams we think can hold their own. Therefore, they might not fall into the drop zone, but they would likely spend most of the season around the drop zone.

Crystal Palace

Picking Crystal Palace is challenging, considering they were pretty good last season, even though they had some rough patches. Their primary issue is that they do not convert their chances, and we think that would be a problem for them, especially with Conor Gallagher returning to Chelsea.

Gallagher had the second-most goal contribution. He was second in the goals and assists departments as well. Therefore, without him, there is a massive lack in that department. So, only if Crystal Palace gets a replacement would they be safe from the relegation battle. However, we don’t think they will drop to the Championship after next season.
