Strikers to watch out for in the 2021-22 Premier League

Some of the finest attackers in the world play in the Premier League. With some of the finest strikers in the world competing in the Premier League, the fight for the Golden Boot is always fierce. To win, a total of more than 20 goals is generally necessary, and there are plenty of possibilities this season. After grabbing a goal against Leicester on the last day of the season, Harry Kane was awarded the Golden Boot last season. By a single goal, he beat Mohamed Salah. The current season has already produced a plethora of goals and promises to be the most exciting Premier League season in history. With that in mind, we take a look at the top five strikers to watch out for in the current season.

1. Romelu Lukaku – Chelsea

Lukaku originally joined Chelsea in August 2011 for an undisclosed price of about €12 million. In two seasons with the Blues, he failed to score a single goal. Lukaku joined Inter Milan from Manchester United in 2019, signing a five-year contract for a rumoured club record price of €80 million. He scored 64 goals in two seasons in Serie A. Lukaku returned to Chelsea for a rumoured club record cost of £97.5 million on August 12, 2021, a decade after joining the club for the first time. Lukaku has now surpassed Neymar as the most expensive footballer of all time, with a total transfer cost of over £285 million. He is clearly the striker to watch out for this season.

2. Michail Antonio – West Ham

Antonio joined Premier League team West Ham United on a four-year deal with a two-year option on September 1, 2015, for roughly £7 million. Antonio has spent his time with the club as a right defender, right midfielder, winger, and striker. Antonio scored all four goals in West Ham's 4–0 win over Norwich City on July 11, 2020, becoming the first player in the club's history to score four goals in a single Premier League game and the first West Ham player to do it since David Cross against Tottenham in September 1981. Moyes has played him as a striker and it has paid off for the Hammers. He scored 10 goals for the Hammers last season.

3. Danny Ings – Aston Villa

On August 4, 2021, Ings signed a three-year contract with Aston Villa for an unknown price. On 14 August, he made his debut, scoring a penalty in a 3–2 away defeat to Watford. Inga spent last three season at Southampton and scored 46 goals in three seasons. He has established himself as one of the best strikers in the league.

4. Jamie Vardy – Leicester City

Jamie Vardy has solidified his reputation as one of the finest attackers in Premier League history. He scored in eleven consecutive Premier League matches in the 2015–16 season, surpassing Ruud van Nistelrooy's record, and was named Premier League Player of the Season and FWA Footballer of the Year as Leicester won the league. He was named the Premier League Golden Boot winner for the 2019–20 season, making him the oldest player to do so. Vardy is recognised for his strong work rate, persistent running, and direct style, as well as his ability to create chances for his teammates, in addition to his prolific goalscoring.

5. Ollie Watkins – Aston Villa

Watkins is a product of the Exeter City youth, where he established his name by winning the EFL Young Player of the Year title before moving to Brentford in 2017. He enjoyed a great three-year tenure at the club, culminating in his being awarded EFL Championship Player of the Year in 2020 and being equal top scorer in the 2019–20 EFL Championship. In September 2020, he joined Aston Villa. He was Aston Villa's leading scorer in the 2020–21 season, with 14 goals. Watkins has demonstrated that he has a lot to give his team.
