Theo Julienne Makes Arsenal Debut vs Ipswich
Theo Julienne has taken another major step in his promising Arsenal career after the 18-year-old made his competitive senior debut as Arsenal defeated Ipswich Town 4-2 away from home in the Carabao Cup third round tonight.

The versatile academy graduate was introduced during the second half as Mikel Arteta gave another young player an opportunity to experience senior football. With Arsenal's academy continuing to produce exciting talents, Julienne is now another name for supporters to keep an eye on.

Theo Julienne Had Already Impressed Mikel Arteta in Preseason

Julienne had already caught Arteta's attention during Arsenal's preseason preparations.

The Arsenal manager gave the youngster plenty of deserved praise after Julienne made his first start for the club as a right-back in the Gunners' penalty-shootout victory over Como.

While the teenager was inconsistent at times, he demonstrated that he is capable of producing a strong performance at the Emirates Stadium. Julienne made a mistake in the build-up to Como's goal but responded well and otherwise enjoyed an encouraging outing.

His work with the ball particularly stood out. His dribbling was impressive, while he looked comfortable operating within Arsenal's system and never appeared out of place against senior opposition.

Although it was certainly not a perfect performance, it demonstrated that Arsenal potentially have another option at right-back if Arteta needs additional cover in the future.

Who Is Theo Julienne?

Julienne is regarded as one of the most versatile players in Arsenal's academy.

Primarily listed as a defender, the London-born youngster can operate as a full-back on either side while also playing anywhere across midfield. That versatility could prove extremely valuable as he continues his development.

Julienne joined Arsenal on June 1, 2021, following a post-COVID trial, and has since developed into an important member of both the Under-18 and Under-21 squads.

During the 2025/26 campaign, he featured in four UEFA Youth League matches for Arsenal's Under-19s and made 13 appearances for the Under-21s, his highest total in a single season. He also scored his first Premier League 2 goal against Leeds in February.
