Premier League GW11 - 5 major talking points
Unai Emery's Aston Villa are dark horses for UCL qualification
Aston Villa began their Premier League in terrific fashion, and many were of the opinion that Unai Emery was beginning to lose control of the club and that change might be needed sooner. Emery responded to all of this in the best way possible, which was getting his Villa side back to their very best. They are now 6th in the league, and have a huge shot of achieving Champions League qualification with their squad quality and previous experience.
Sunderland could end up making history
Even before the 25-26 Premier League began, most football fans knew that Sunderland had ambitious owners who had spent huge in the Summer transfer window and brought in several new players. Despite that, most football fans still believed they would be in a relegation battle. That's no more the case now, as Sunderland are now one of the most in-form teams in the league. Forget relegation, if things continue as it stands, the dream of Europa League football might not be an impossible one for them.
Erling Haaland leads the Pep Guardiola Manchester City rebirth
Pep Guardiola has always been accused by his critics that he never built a squad from scratch in his career, with his golden Barcelona team, brilliant Bayern Munich side, and legendary Manchester City side being shown as the primary examples. However, he finally had to rebuild a side as the core of his original golden era Manchester City had left the club. The transition hasn't been smooth, but looks absolutely promising at the moment with Erling Haaland leading the team. We could be witnessing another great Guardiola in the making.
Arne Slot might get sacked as Liverpool manager soon
Liverpool were heavy favourites to reclaim their Premier League title after what was one of the most unbelievable and impressive transfer windows in football history. They went on to spend more than £300 million in the window and added world-class potential talents like Hugo Ekiteke, Florian Wirtz, and Alexander Isak to the side. However, things are looking disastrous for Arne Slot so far, as none of the signings except for Ekiteke have really clicked so far. To make matters worse, the recent 3-0 thrashing they suffered against Manchester City probably rules them out of the title race.
Arsenal need Viktor Gyökeres fit to win the Premier League
Arsenal were on the verge of securing another 3 points to extend their gap at the top, and then game Sunderland's equalizer at the death of the game. It was a moment of brilliance from Sunderland, but also one of vulnerability from Arsenal. This game made it more evident than ever of how crucial Viktor Gyökeres is to this Arsenal side. He adds much more than goals to Mikel Arteta's side, and his mere presence completely changes the dynamics of the team. The Swedish striker is their only proper no.9 as well, and Mikel Arteta should be hoping that doesn't end up getting injury issues again for the remainder of the season.
