For the third successive season, Wolverhampton Wanderers ended in 10 or lower in the standings taking the 13th spot this time. Bruno Lage was dismissed after a poor turnout which saw the team battling relegation and Julien Lopetegui was roped in. The former Sevilla boss ensured Wolves finish seven points above the drop zone but it was still an underwhelming end following a series of star signings in last summer. They also lost the club’s inspiring captain Ruben Neves this transfer window. Hence, the 2023-24 season possess a far bigger challenge for the Wolves.
Lopetegul’s side have to face reinvigorated Manchester United at Old Trafford for the curtain raiser on 14th August 2023. They will be thrown into another stern battle against Brighton a week later, their first home game of the season at Molineux. Wolves will meet Aston Villa in the Birmingham derby at the start of October straightaway after facing holders Manchester City. The start of the year 2024 is a tough one with Brignton, United, Chelsea, Brentford and Tottenham to face in five straight matches. The reverse fixture against the Villians is on 30th March 2024. Wolves will also face the holders and then Liverpool a game after again on the final day of the season on 19th May 2024.
