In the history of the World Cup, Argentina only failed once to qualify, which was in the 1998 edition. In the 2014 World Cup, Los Leones played their only WC semi-final, where they suffered a 5-1 defeat against Australia, and later finished as the third-best team with a 2-0 win against England in the third-place playoff.
Rio 2016 Summer Olympics gold medallist Argentina qualified for the Men’s FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 by winning the Men's Pan American Cup 2025.
