Ranchi Royals are set to begin their journey in the Hockey India League 2026 season (HIL 2026), as they are replacing now-defunct Team Gonasika in the men’s HIL, who finished in seventh position in the 2024/25 edition. The expectations are high from Ranchi Royals, as they are the second team from Ranchi, after the Ranchi Rhinos, who were champions in the inaugural edition in 2013.
While the Ranchi Royals also have the INR 4 crore team purse, they spent almost INR 3 crore in retention, before adding six players from the auction, including three overseas names.
