India fail to earn any points in the second round after suffering a solid defeat against Argentina, who have qualified for the Men’s FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 Semifinals along with the hosts Netherlands.
Men’s FIH Hockey World Cup 2026: Second Round – Day 4
Argentina 5–3 India
Argentina have advanced to the Semifinals with a 5-3 win against India, which was confirmed after the draw result between the Netherlands and England.
Joaquín Toscani (1’) and Nicolás Della Torre (6’) provided the early 2-0 lead for Argentina, while Sukhjeet Singh soon made the scoreline 2-1, as India scored first goal in the 10th minute. Tomás Domene (33’ & 45’) then scored twice and Lucas Toscani (53’) added one more to put Argentina in a strong position. Although Sukhjeet added another goal in the 58th minute and Hardik Singh scored in the final minute, India ultimately finished in the fourth position of Pool E.
Netherlands 2–2 England
In their must-win game with stronger goals, England only managed to secure a 2-2 draw against the hosts and three-time champions Netherlands, who finished on top of Pool E. Stuart Rushmere (6’) provided an early lead for England, but Jip Janssen (30’) equalised the scoreline before Thierry Brinkman (32’) set up a lead for the Netherlands. Henry Croft (48’) leveled the scoreline for England, but they failed to find a winner.
