Men’s Hockey Asia Cup 2025 Super 4s started with a victory for Malaysia against China, while the hosts India secured a 2-2 draw against South Korea. At the end of the opening day of the Super 4s, Malaysia are leading the table, while the hosts India are in the second position.

  • Malaysia 2 – 0 China

Pool B champions Malaysia have continued their dominant stance in the tournament after beating China by 2-0. After Syed Cholan scored the opening goal from a penalty corner in the final minute of the third quarter, Akhimullah Anuar scored the second goal in the second minute of the final quarter through a field goal. 

  • India 2 – 2 South Korea

The hosts India got an early lead as Hardik Singh opened the scoreline through a field goal in the eighth minute of the match. However, South Korea replied strongly as Yang Ji-Hun and Kim Hyeon-hong scored once each in the 12th and 14th minutes, respectively. Those Korean goals came from a penalty shot and a penalty corner, respectively. Hosts ultimately equalised the scoreline in the last quarter, when Mandeep Singh scored a field goal in the 53rd minute.

Men’s Hockey Asia Cup 2025: 5th-8th Place Semi-finals  

  • Japan 2 – 0 Chinese Taipei

Meanwhile, Japan have secured their place for the World Cup qualifiers after defeating Chinese Taipei by 2-0 in the 5th-8th place Semi-finals. So, Japan will now face the winners of the play-off Semi-final between Bangladesh and Kazakhstan in the fifth-place game.


In the meantime, Chinese Taipei have failed to qualify for the World Cup qualifiers from this competition, as they will now play the 7th-ranked game against the other play-off Semi-final losers, Bangladesh vs Kazakhstan.
