The former RCB skipper scored 4994 runs in 143 matches (142 innings) as an IPL captain. MS Dhoni: 4660 runs


MS Dhoni is one of the most successful captains in the history of IPL. He is the player who has captained the most number of matches in the IPL and one of the successful captains with the most number of T20 trophies. With CSK, captain Dhoni has won five IPL titles and two Champions League trophies. Dhoni also played for Rising Pune Supergiants in two IPL seasons and captained their first season during IPL 2016. As an IPL captain, Dhoni scored a total of 4660 runs in 226 matches (196 innings).


Rohit Sharma: 3986 runs


Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma is another great captain in IPL history, as he was the first IPL captain to win five trophies (all for Mumbai Indians). Moreover, he also led the MI squad to win their second Champions League T20 title in 2013. Rohit is also one of the greatest IPL openers. The right-handed batter’s IPL captaincy record claims scoring 3986 runs in 158 matches (157 innings).


Gautam Gambhir: 3518 runs


Gautam Gambhir is one of the most successful captains, as well as, batters in the history of IPL. He began his IPL career playing for his hometown team, Delhi Daredevils. In 2011, he was bought by KKR, where he led the team and won two IPL titles. Gambhir was one of the most successful captains in IPL. As an IPL captain, Gambhir scored a total of 3518 runs from 129 matches (127 innings).


David Warner: 3356 runs


David Warner is a dangerous left-handed opening batter who can change the course of the match anytime. The Indian Premier League has also witnessed some of his best T20I innings. Warner has recorded most IPL orange caps by winning it in three seasons (2015, 2017 and 2019). In the IPL career, captain Warner scored 3356 runs in 83 matches (83 innings)
