SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) started the IPL 2025 season in a stormy way as they beat the inaugural IPL champions Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 44 runs in a high-scoring afternoon fixture in Hyderabad on Sunday (23rd March).
After Rajasthan Royals chose to bowl first, the IPL 2024 runners-up SRH scored 286/6 in 20 overs. While four SRH batters scored 30+ runs, opener Travis Head scored 67 off 31 balls with nine fours and three sixes, and Ishan Kishan recorded the first IPL 2025 century by scoring 106 not out in 47 balls with 11 fours and six sixes.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals fought hard and scored 242/6 in 20 overs, but their battle wasn’t enough. RR also had four 30+ scores, including half-centuries by the opener Sanju Samson (66 off 37 balls with seven fours and four sixes) and wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel (70 off 35 balls with five fours and four sixes).
