Mumbai Indians claimed a very important win in the IPL 2026 match against the hosts Gujarat Titans on Monday night at Ahmedabad. MI star Tilak Varma slammed a joint fastest century for MI to secure a big victory for the franchise.
After Titans sent the five-time champions to bat first, Tilak Varma’s batting helped MI to score 199/5 in 20 overs. Tilak scored 101 not out off 45 balls with eight fours and seven sixes, while Naman Dhir was the other batter to manage a 20+ score in that innings, as he scored 45 off 32 balls.
In reply, GT were bundled out for only 100 runs, as MI won by 99 runs. Only Washington Sundar (26) managed the 20-run mark in that innings, as the hosts were never in the chase. The 24-year-old left-arm pacer Ashwani Kumar picked up four wickets, as he had the bowling figures of 4-0-24-4.
Joint fastest century for MI
Tilak Varma slammed a 45-ball century.
Tilak equalled the record for fastest century by a Mumbai Indians batter. Former Sri Lankan cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya previously held this record solely with a 45-ball century against Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2008.
