872 Sixes in 2018
This is the record for the most number of sixes hit in all previous 14 seasons. The crazy thing is that there were only 60 Matches this season as compared to the 74 in the current season and the average sixes per match in this season was a mind boggling 14.53 sixes per match and this is cruel to the bowlers. Where will they go if all the batters start hitting so many sixes? The hitting in this 2018 season was something else and all the fans were lucky that a lot of us did not get injured or get hit.

784 Sixes in 2019
The number 2 on this list is the following year in 2019 where a total of 784 sixes were hit in this season. This season also had 60 Matches and there was an average of 13.07 sixes in the season which is lower than last season but still it is a lot. I am a fan of sixes but the bowlers should also be allowed to rest instead of watching the ball sail into the stands so much. Six hitting in India seems a lot of fun as the grounds are generally short.

734 Sixes in 2020
We are going back to back to back from.2018-2020 and this year the IPL was in the UAE where the grounds are a lot bigger than in India but still so many sixes were hit in this season. I am proud that the batters have become very powerful and they can clear any boundary with ease. A total of 734 sixes were hit in 60 Matches with an average of 12.23 sixes per match in UAE was very impressive and a sight to behold.

731 Sixes in 2012
Now we go way back to 2012 where there were a total of 76 matches and 731 sixes were hit meaning there was respite for the bowlers in this season as the average sixes per match this season was 9.62 which is the fourth lowest average of any season and it shows that the batters were trying only conventional hitting shots to hit sixes. Still ,this is on the number 4 spot on this list.

714 Sixes in 2014
The fifth and final spot in this list is the one from the 2014 season where the average sixes per match shot up to 11.90 meaning the respite for the Bowlers was only temporary as the batters again hit a lot of sixes per match and in 60 Matches the players hit the record sixes but all that is going to change in 2022 as we will most likely have a new number 1 at the end of the current season.
