MJF Retains the AEW Championship in a Bloody Match against Adam Page
The biggest news point of the night was the main event between MJF vs Adam Page in a Texas Death Match. This was the match that divided the wrestling fans as there was too much blood. MJF vs Adam Page was billed as the last opportunity for Adam Page to win the AEW World Championship. There were predictions that Adam Page would win because if he didn’t then he would not get to challenge for the title again. MJF won the match and it was brutal. MJF has excluded Adam Page from ever contesting for the AEW World Championship.
Ronda Rousey Makes Shocking AEW Debut
This was something that nobody expected and there were no reports teasing her appearing at the show. Toni Storm vs Marina Shafir was happening and Toni Storm beat her in a great match. Toni Storm is the biggest star in the AEW Women’s Division. After the match Toni Storm was lying down on the entrance ramp and suddenly in the ring there was Ronda Rousey who was standing in the ring asking Toni Storm to come and face her. Ronda Rousey will face Gina Carano in an MMA Fight on Netflix in May. This completely changes the women’s wrestling scene in AEW as a legitimate superstar is now in AEW. The matches that she could have are astronomical.
Will Ospreay Is Back in AEW
The Aerial Assassin Will Ospreay is back in AEW. There were reports that he would be out of action for another 3 months but he returned at AEW Revolution after the match between Jon Moxley vs Konosuke Takeshita for AEW Continental Championship. This was a brutal match which Jon Moxley won by a submission. There was a vignette that played before and Will Osperay returned to a thunderous ovation and he took out The Death Riders on his own. Will Osperay has his sights set on Jon Moxley. This is a huge morale booster for AEW.
Cope and Christian Cage are Back as a Tag Team
It was the match between FTR vs The Young Bucks for the AEW Tag Team Championship. It was an excellent tag team match as is always the case with these two teams. FTR beat their opponents and retained the tag team titles. However the news point happened after this match. The lights went off and Revenge was on the screen. Then the music of Adam Copeland played and he and Christian Cage returned to confront FTR. FTR were responsible for these two legends being out injured. The 12,000 fans were loud and this sets up a blockbuster feud for the tag team titles.
Title Changes
There were title changes that took place throughout the show. Tony Khan made sure that the show was extremely newsworthy just a month before WrestleMania. The AEW Women’s Tag Team Championship changed hands as Megan Bayne and Lena Kross won the titles from The Babes of Wrath. Jack Perry won a 21 Man Battle Royal to win the AEW National Championship. The Trios Championship also changed hands as Mistico and JetSpeed won the Trios Championship in an Upset win over The Don Callis Family. This will keep the storylines fresh going into AEW Dynasty which will be their next big PPV.
