Asian Games 2026: India Wins Gold in Mixed Trap Team With a New Asian Record

Indian mixed trap team set a new Asian record to win the gold medal at the Asian Games 2026. It was India’s third shooting gold medal at the Asian Games 2026.

Although the Qatar team managed a stronger start (7), while India (6) had a tied score with other finalists, China (6) and Iran (6), the team started to have a stronger impact from the second series to secure a strong gold medal with an Asian record. After leveling with Qatar in the second series (16 points each), India took control in the third series (26 vs Qatar 24) and continued to achieve the ultimate success at the end of the fourth and final series (34 vs Qatar 32).

Qatar was the previous Asian record holder in this event with 30 points, recorded this January, while the world record is 37 by Australia last July. India successfully set a new Asian record with 34 points. China claimed the bronze medal with 23 points, as they missed the final series qualification due to being one point behind Qatar.

Kynan Chenai and Neeru Dhanda served for India in this Asian record-breaking event. It was Kynan’s first medal at the Asian Games 2026, but Neeru’s third medal. In the women’s trap individual event, Neeru won a historic gold medal with an Asian record, as she became the first Indian to win an Asian Games gold medal in the women’s trap event. She also secured a silver medal in the ongoing Asian Games for the women’s trap team event.

It was India’s first Asian Games gold medal in the mixed trap team event. Apart from Neeru Dhanda winning two gold medals, India’s other shooting gold medal at the Asian Games 2026 was recorded in the mixed 10m air pistol team event (Kamaljeet and Suruchi Singh).
