Indian mixed 10m air pistol team finally produced the much-needed gold medal at the Asian Games 2026 with an Asian record, as it was India’s first gold medal in shooting and second overall gold medal at the Asian Games 2026.
Indian shooters Kamaljeet and Suruchi Singh dominated the mixed 10m air pistol team event, as they had a total of 484.6, breaking the previous Asian record of 481.3 by Uzbekistan, to secure a gold medal. India got a strong start, with 103.0 in the first stage of Series 1, and maintained the status till the end of the event.
Republic of Korea (478.0) won the silver medal, while Iran (415.8) clinched the bronze medal, as the other final qualifier, Indonesia (349.4), finished in fourth place.
Both Kamaljeet and Suruchi Singh won their first-ever Asian Games medal. In the ongoing Asian Games 2026, Kamaljeet earlier missed a medal in the men’s 10m air pistol team event by finishing in fourth place, while he and his other team members all failed to qualify for the individual final, although he finished best among the Indians in the individual qualification with ninth place.
Meanwhile, Suruchi Singh was in the women’s 10m air pistol team that finished fourth place, while she failed to reach the individual final by managing 26th place in the qualification.
