The Italian men’s cricket team wrote its name in the cricket history book after thrashing Nepal in the Group C match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 at Wankhede Stadium on Thursday evening (12th February).
After Italy chose to field first, they bundled out Nepal for only 123 runs in 19.3 overs. Four out of the first five Nepal batters managed 15+ scores, as the opener Aasif Sheikh (20), captain Rohit Paudel (23), and Aarif Sheikh (27) scored 20+ runs. However, only one of the last six batters managed a double-digit score, as Karan KC was not out for 18 runs.
While most of the Italian bowlers were very disciplined, the leg-spinner Crishan Kalugamage had the incredible bowling figures of 4-0-18-3, as he won the Player of the Match award. Also, Ben Manenti delivered the outstanding bowling figures of 4-0-9-2.
In reply, Italy comfortably chased down the target without losing any wickets in just 12.4 overs. Opening partners and brothers, Justin Mosca and Anthony Mosca, guided the nation to the historic victory. While Justin scored 60 not out off 44 balls with five fours and three sixes, Anthony scored 62 not out off 32 balls with three fours and six sixes.
