The first Grand Slam of the year which was the Australian Open is in the books and what an historic tournament it was. 2023 is off to a great start as the tennis fans who went to all the matches saw incredible Tennis matches one after the other and for Two weeks the world was glued to Australia and all the best players in the world took part in it. Tennis fans around the world can look forward to an incredible year of tennis and there are 3 Grand Slams left.

The 2023 Australian Open saw results mixed from new stars being made to a dominant champion returning to reclaim his throne after tough battles. 

So, let’s look at the Results of the 2023 Australian Open:


Men’s Singles Winner

Even before the tournament started Novak Djokovic was listed as the heavy favorite to win this Grand Slam but it was not easy for him mentally because of all that he has faced for these past 2 years and for him to play the level of tennis that he played at and not getting overawed by the crowd reaction is a true testament to the greatness of Novak Djokovic. Right throughout the tournament it was only 1 match where he found himself in a bit of trouble and that was in the second round where he lost the only set In this tournament. He demolished the best  players in the world such as Grigor Dimitrov in the third round in 3 sets then in the 4th Round he beat the local hero Alex Di Minaur and he taught him a lesson. Then in the Quarter Final he beat the very talented Andrev Rublev in 3 sets then in the semi final he decimated Tommy Paul and finally uj the Final he beat Stephanos Tsitaipas In 3 sets to win his 22nd Grand Slam and he can win all 4 this year.


Women’s Singles Winner

The Women’s Singles was a more open field than the Men’s Singles which made this a more exciting tournament. Iga Swiatek was the favorite but she got Eliminated in the fourth round. The stars of the Australian Open were Elena Rybakina who beat 3 former Grand Slam Champion. She beat Victoria Azarenka in the semi final and Before that she beat Jelena Ostapenko in the Quarter Final. And on the other side there was Aryna Sabalenka who was having the tournament of her life as she best Magda Linette in the semi final in straight sets. In the final it was Elena Rybakina vs Aryna Sabalenka and this match was a banger as it went 3 sets and finally the wait for Aryna Sabalenka came to an end as she won her first Grand Slam and she deserved it.


Men’s Doubles Winners

In this category there was one team which was better than the rest and it was the home team of Jason Kubler and Rinky Hijikata who won the Men’s Doubles title in front of their home fans as they beat the team of Hugo Nya and Jan Zielinski in the final in straight sets and created history. They would be hoping to win more Grand Slams this year.


Women’s Doubles Winners

The ever familiar pair of Barbara Krejcilova and Katerina Siniakova were yet again at the top of the mountain as they continued their dominance in this field of tennis and they continued their great form from 2022 to 2023 and in the final of This tournament they beat Shuko Aoyama and Ena Shibahara in straight sets.


Mixed Doubles Winners

This was the event that all Indian Tennis fans were invested in the most as the pair of Rohan Bopanna and the great Sania Mirza who was playing her last Grand Slam were playing their best tennis and they were at the top of their game. They beat all the higher ranked opponents in thrilling matches to set-up this final and the pair gave it their all in the final but came just short to the Brazilian pair of Luisa Stefani and Rafael Matos in straight sets but this was an incredible tournament for India and hopefully the wait for a Grand Slam will come to an end.
