Favorites to win Australian Open 2023

The tennis season is back after a few months of absence after the US Open and the first Grand Slam of the year is the Australian Open which is played in Melbourne but the last 2 years have not felt the same without its most dominant player in Novak Djokovic and now that he is back and will be playing in the Australian Open the competition will be tough for the winners price. The Australian Open will be played from 16th January 2023 and it will go on for 2 weeks and Sunday 29th January 2023 will be the Men’s Singles Final.

Similarly on the Women’s side there are a lot of young players that are hungry to prove themselves and cement themselves as the top tennis player in the world and they will have a great chance to do so at the Australian Open. Now that Serena Williams has retired, someone has the chance of becoming the best ever. So, let’s see who are the favorites to win the Australian Open in 2023.

Men’s Singles

The Men’s Singles category is the main event of any Grand Slam and more often than not there have been 3 Players that have played the last match and those are the Big 3 of tennis but since Roger Federer has retired so we will look at the other 2 and some young players. This may be the rise of a new young star or a familiar sight will be seen again. The favorite of winning the Men’s Singles is :

Novak Djokovic

For 2 years he was not allowed to participate in the Australian Open and now that he is back this year it makes him the overwhelming favorite to win his 10th Australian Open and it will be very impressive if he does that because it will be like Rafael Nadal winning 14 French Open titles. Novak Djokovic will be motivated to do very well and take out the 2 years of frustration he had in him for missing 2 Grand Slam titles. It will take something very special to deny Novak Djokovic his 22nd Grand Slam.

Some other great players that are playing at the Australian Open are :

  • Carlos Alcatraz

  • Daniil Medvedev

  • Rafael Nadal

  • Casper Ruud

Women’s Singles

The Women’s Singles is a little more open than the Men’s and that is always a great thing because one wants to see tough competition and not know who might win the whole thing. There has not been one dominant champion in Women’s Singles at the Australian Open like Novak Djokovic has been for the men but still there is one favorite that should be talked out and that is –

Iga Swiatek

Iga Swiatek is the number 1 player in the world for a reason and she has won 2 Grand Slam titles in 2022 and she was undefeated for 36 Matches which is an all time record and Iga will be looking to start 2023 om the highest note by winning the Australian Open and this will be a special achievement for her in her young career. Someone will have to play their best tennis if they want to beat her.

Some other players that could win this title are :

  • Caroline Garcia

  • Ons Jabeur

  • Aruna Sabalenka

  • Coco Gauff

  • Maria Sakkari
