Following the red-ball cricket since the late 90s era, which had witnessed the players like Curtly Ambrose, Courtney Walsh, Shane Bond, Allan Donald, Wasim Akram, Brett Lee and at last the young wild Dale Steyn have brought up the emotions in test cricket with an ideal brand of cricket. Over the years and after the 2011 World Cup, Cricket is left with only money instead of the spirit of the game to keep its values alive. Now it’s complete corporate business and with the advent of T-20l Cricket, We are not witnessing cricket anymore it’s a bunch of money minded people who have completely destroyed the pure emotions of test cricket with so called money into it. I am not trying to sway the sentiments of anyone out there and it’s okay there are failures in the performances of the team.
But if it becomes a habit from the team of world class players who brought this game of cricket, there needs to be serious criticism they have to face without any doubt. Although we have witnessed teams have collapsed to the lowest ever total in test cricket but in the recent times when team India bowled out at the score of 36 runs it has brought severe criticism from the many great players around the world. It’s somewhere not believable to anyone that even when the conditions are completely batsman friendly, how can a team be humiliated like this. Before this test series, England had defeated the team like Sri Lanka in the subcontinent region so it was expected to witness some quality Cricket with the start of the new decade.
In the first test match we have witnessed some competitive cricket between two teams but as soon as the match was over, cricket has pushed into the shambles of disgrace in any of the test matches that have happened after including the on-going test match. The Visitors (England) are already trailing by 1-2 in the series and they have an equal chance to level the series but seems to be not witnessing in the test match so far from England. Where the last test match ended in two days, to some extent it is possible that this test match will not go beyond day three as visitors are giving away the series to hosts without the fight.
The visitors decision to bat first has completely backfired after they have been bowled out at the score of 205 runs in the third session of day one. Only Ben Stokes has scored half-century apart from him no other batsman was able to score confidently except some short cameo in between from another English batsman. And if it is the only last thing left in cricket, then I must say we should stop test cricket completely or not to play with such spirit anymore. Let us not destroy the values of Test cricket, keep it where it is at and continue these overhyped T20l leagues with 3-hour entertainment.
