West Indies create history at the Gabba

West Indies did something they have not done in 27 years and that was to beat Australia in Australia. The test match took place between 25th till the 28th January 2024.

The second test between Australia and West Indies at the Gabba was one for the history books. This is a test match that will be remembered forever by all fans of West Indies cricket and all neutral cricket fans all around the world. West Indies did something they have not done in 27 years and that was to beat Australia In Australia. Pakistan recently had a series against Australia and they lost 3-0. Cricket fans wish that there was a 3rd test match in this series. The test match took place between 25th till the 28th January 2024.

West Indies did the impossible

West Indies were coming into this test match with Being 0-1 behind Australia. The experts had said that the second test match will be more of the same and since it was at the Gabba where no team had beaten Australia in 34 years other than India. This test match is something that teaches everyone that nobody should be counted our before something happen. Every underdog has a chance of beating the favorite. West Indies were batting first in this test match and they scored the highest runs of this test match. They scored 311 runs in the first innings and this was a good score. Kaveen Hodge and Joshua De Silva were good with 70s each. Australia also batted well in the first innings but they were not able to cross the 311 of West Indies. Usman Khawaja, Alex Carey and Pat Cummins made scores over 50 and Australia made 289.


West Indies had a 22 run lead and they needed a big Score but that is not what happened. Australia bowled exceptionally well and they bowled very well as a unit. Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon took 3 wickets each and the West Indies were all out for 193. No batter in the innings scored more than 40 runs and Australia needed a score of 215 runs and the match was considered over as 215 was not a big score. West Indies needed a special performance to win this test match and they found a hero in Shamar Joseph who with a broken toe took 7 Wickets and won the test match for the West Indies.


Australia only had one batter that stood for them and he made 91 runs not out and the other batters were falling like nine pins. Shamar Joseph bowled only 11.5 overs in this innings and he was expensive as he gave away 68 runs. He took 7 Wickets and he got the last 7 wickets of the Australian innings. Most of his dismissals were either bowled or caught by wicket keeper. This was truly an extraordinary spell of fast bowling and especially more incredible as his toe was completely gone yet he stood up for his country. This made the biggest legends of West Indies cricket emotional such as Brian Lara, Ian Bishop and Carl Hooper. This was the first win by West Indies in Australia vs Australia in 27 years and the first time West Indies had beaten Australia in any test match in 21 years.
