The main event segment of the show was the promo segment between CM Punk vs Roman Reigns. This was the second promo battle between these two men on the Road to WrestleMania 42. However this one that took place on Raw just took their feud and the stakes have risen and become personal. CM Punk has made it personal and there is no coming back from this point. The main event of WrestleMania 42 Night 2 will see two of the biggest stars in wrestling go at it on 19th April 2026.
Let’s look at this feud and the direction forward
CM Punk has Crossed the Line
It was the main event segment on Raw and there were 15 minutes left in the show. Roman Reigns came out and even before he could say a word the entrance of the World Heavyweight Champion played and Roman Reigns was not happy. Both men started to cut promos and Roman Reigns said that CM Punk did not get him to WWE but the other 2 members of The Shield. CM Punk reminded Roman Reigns that without him there would be no Roman Reigns. It was professional but then Roman Reigns started mocking CM Punk. He said that WWE brought back CM Punk because they wanted to sell merchandise and sell the Chicago arena. Roman Reigns said that becoming World Heavyweight Champion was supposed to not happen.
Roman Reigns said that after he beats him at WrestleMania 42 then CM Punk can go to NXT and teach the younger talent. Roman will organise a retirement tour for him like John Cena had. That rubbed CM Punk the wrong way. Then he got serious and then this feud took a completely different level. CM Punk said that Roman Reigns just made the list and now CM Punk will bury Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 42 instead of beating him. And Roman Reigns will not be alone anymore because he will bury Roman next to his father. This one line has made this feud one of the most personal in WWE for quite some time. No one ever goes low on the Bloodline family and now CM punk will have serious problems. Jey and Jimmy Uso who are babyfaces will have a serious problem with what CM Punk said at the end.
What Happens Next Between CM Punk and Roman Reigns?
And now Roman Reigns will not take this lying down. He will bring up Larry who passed away and Roman Reigns might also bring up AJ Lee to berate CM Punk. Everything is on the table now and both men will obviously get physical before WrestleMania 42. Roman Reigns will be on Raw for 4 more weeks leading into WrestleMania 42. This is a 100 Times better than the main event of WrestleMania 41 where there was zero intensity and heat between John Cena and Cody Rhodes. Having two of the top stars in WWE go at it at WrestleMania has always been the move and a return to that has paid off. Going forward the rest of the locker room will have to raise their game and this will result in the overall quality of the product going up. There are almost 50 days left till WrestleMania 42 and the Matches will begin to take shape.
