There are new WWE Tag Team Champions and it is one of the most unlikeliest pairings in modern WWE history that have won the tag team titles. This means that both Damian Priest and R Truth will be on the WrestleMania card for 2026. These two have had great history together and this is the reason that the fans are excited to see these two as the tag team champions.

It was Friday Night SmackDown and there was a tag team title match between MFT and Damian Priest and R Truth. The MFT faction have been the tag team champions for a long time and the SmackDown tag team division needed a shake up. Damian Priest and R Truth have prior history in The Judgement Day where R Truth was acting as the comic relief in the group. He had Damian Priest breaking character so many times during 2023. The fans wished that their dynamic lasted longer. 3 years later in 2026, these two men are back together and this time as a proper tag team. For the past 4 weeks these two men have been having segments which were leading to this match.
The MFT and Wyatt Sicks have been feuding for what feels like eternity. When this feud started in mid 2025, the WWE fans were so excited to see two great factions going head to head. However Triple H has had no creative direction for these two talented factions. Therefore a shift in the WWE Tag Team division was needed and Damian Priest and R Truth provided that. R Truth is the comic relief in the team but he has been wrestling for more than 25 years and therefore he can go with anyone in the ring. Damian Priest is one of the strongest WWE superstars and he adds the necessary gravitas and pedigree to the team as a former World Heavyweight Champion. Damian Priest also needed a change in creative direction after the long feud against Aleister Black concluded as he was doing nothing.
Damian Priest and R Truth as the WWE Tag Team Champions means more spotlight for the entire tag team division. Everyone in WWE loves R Truth and therefore it will help Damian Priest in the long run and he can eventually contest for the World Heavyweight Championship after WrestleMania 42. The Wyatt Sicks vs MFT is a feud that needs to be settled by WrestleMania 42 so that the wrestlers in these two factions can have something fresh to sink their teeth into. Damian Priest and R Truth are older wrestlers as compared to the others but they can still move like they are in their late 30s. R Truth has emulated his childhood hero John Cena by winning the tag team titles. It will be a fun Road to WrestleMania 42.
