WrestleMania is all about the showcase of professional wrestling to the world. It is held in massive stadiums across the USA, and the attendance figures are a massive topic of conversation every year. For this list only the single-night attendance records will be taken into consideration, as WrestleManias having 2 nights will have an unfair advantage over 2 nights. WrestleMania has always seemed to have great attendance figures, but WrestleMania 42 is not looking too good at the moment.
Let’s look at the top 5 WrestleManias with the highest attendance in history
WrestleMania 32 – 101,763
The attendance figure announced by WWE for WrestleMania 32 was the highest for any WrestleMania in history. This show was held at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas. This was one of the most forgettable WrestleMania shows of the last 15 years. This show only had 2 good matches, and they were Charlotte Flair vs Sasha Banks vs Becky Lynch and The Undertaker vs Shane McMahon. The main event of Roman Reigns vs Triple H was a subpar main event. It is highly unlikely that this record will be broken anytime soon.
WrestleMania 3 – 93,173
WrestleMania 3 had the record for the highest ever attendance for a WrestleMania before 32 broke it. That show was game-changing for the entire professional wrestling industry. Without that show there would be no WWE to look forward to currently. That show had one of the greatest wrestling matches of all time when Ricky Steamboat beat Macho Man Randy Savage for the Intercontinental Championship.
There were so many wrestlers following that match who wanted to be like them. And the main event of WrestleMania 4 was Hulk Hogan vs Andre The Giant and the body slam heard around the world. Hulk Hogan body-slamming Andre the Giant is one of the most iconic moments.
WrestleMania 35 – 82,265
WrestleMania 35 was the last single-night WrestleMania that the WWE had. It was a show which had 3 stories going into it, where the babyfaces were trying to overcome the heels. Seth Rollins beat Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship, and Kofi Kingston won the WWE Championship in a banger match against Daniel Bryan.
In the main event it was Becky Lynch vs Charlotte Flair vs Ronda Rousey, and Becky Lynch won the first women’s main event in WrestleMania history. WrestleMania 35 also saw the return of Roman Reigns after he battled his cancer and beat it. More WrestleMania events should be held in New York.
WrestleMania 29 – 80,676
This is the second consecutive WrestleMania on this list that took place at the MetLife Stadium in New York. This was WrestleMania 29, which was at the peak of the PG era in WWE. This show has many great matches. The Undertaker vs CM Punk was the best match. Triple H vs Brock Lesnar and John Cena vs The Rock, Part 2, was also very good.
This WrestleMania also saw the debut of The Shield, and Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose were in WWE. WrestleMania 29 was also the last one for CM Punk for a decade. This was also the last WrestleMania in the PPV era of WWE, as during WrestleMania 30, the WWE Network was launched, which changed everything.
WrestleMania 39 Night 1 – 80,497
WrestleMania 39 was the last truly great WrestleMania where there were multiple matches that could have been the best WWE match of the year. Night 1 had the attendance that is the all-time number 5. And the 80,000 fans got incredible professional wrestling. They were treated to Charlotte Flair vs Rhea Ripley, which is still the best women’s WWE match of all time. This show also had Seth Rollins vs Logan Paul, which was very good.
In the main event it was The Usos vs Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens, and that was the best tag-team match of the year. The storytelling during that night was on another level. This WrestleMania was held at the new SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, California.
