So, let’s look at the history of John Cena vs CM Punk:

The Start

It all started in 2011 but CM Punk had beef with John Cena before that as he had to work his way in WWE and he was about to be released but Paul Heyman stopped that from happening and from there CM Punk climbed the ladder of success as he won the Money in the bank in back to back years. He also won the WWE Championship and he was at the top. In between that came 2011 and John Cena. The fans were excited when these two finally were about to face off.

Pro vs Anti Establishment

Their feud in 2011 started as the one where it was John Cena who was pro establishment and CM Punk who was like the rebel who wanted to antagonize WWE management. And the fans loved this dynamic and were in the side of CM Punk. Their matches were some of the best but all that story led to Money in the Bank in 2011 in Chicago where it was CM Punk vs John Cena and it was a 30 minutes classic and CM Punk won the title and left WWE. Then at SummerSlam that year it was CM Punk vs John Cena in the main event for the Undisputed WWE Championship and CM Punk won the match.

2012-2013

After their historic chapter in 2011 this feud was revisited in 2012 and the following year as CM Punk won the WWE Championship and he was on a tear and John Cena won the Money in the bank and their paths crossed yet again and John Cena challenged CM Punk to a WWE championship match and they had a great match and before that at Night of Champion which was their last PPV match they had yet another Banger and they had a total of 12 matches against each other and all of them were great.
