Pat McAfee has made his long awaited return to WWE TV on the Road to WrestleMania 42. There was a storyline going on WWE about Randy Orton talking on the phone with somebody for the past 2 weeks and that had the WWE fans excited about the prospect of who it could be. Pat McAfee had been away from WWE programming for almost a year and he has been doing his thing on ESPN and very successfully so. He made his shocking return on the latest episode of SmackDown to assist Randy Orton.

Pat McAfee Is Back in WWE
One of the major feuds that was going to happen at night 1 at WrestleMania 42 is Cody Rhodes vs Randy Orton for the WWE Championship. This was the match that had the advantage of having 20 years of history and the fans were genuinely excited to see two legends of the sport going at it against each other at WrestleMania. Randy Orton has been the mentor to Cody Rhodes ever since Cody first came to the WWE in 2007. He included him in Legacy and ever since Cody Rhodes has proved that Randy Orton was right in trusting him. Over the last 2 weeks WWE has been running a storyline that Randy Orton has been on the phone with somebody and they have been giving advice to Randy on what to do.
The WWE fans as expected got excited as to who it could be on the phone with Randy Orton. They dug up names such as Ted Dibisse Jr from legacy and on Monday when Stephanie McMahon was on Raw , the WWE fans assumed that it could be her or Vince McMahon on the phone with Randy Orton. The one name that nobody guessed was the name that appeared on SmackDown with Randy Orton. Pat McAfee was asked a few weeks ago whether he would return to WWE and he said that the business had passed him by. Cody Rhodes was scheduled to appear on the Pat McAfee show but it was cancelled last minute due to scheduling conflict. Pat McAfee attacked Cody Rhodes and cut a great promo and he said that Randy Orton is the face of WWE. He got booed and now Pat McAfee will be at WrestleMania and this was a call that was made by TKO Boss Ari Emmanuel and not by WWE creative.
The WWE fans have not reacted well to Pat McAfee being the one to assist Randy Orton. They love Pat McAfee but they think that this makes absolutely zero sense. This is like Travis Scott helping John Cena at WrestleMania 41. Pat McAfee will probably have episodes of The Pat McAfee show during WWE World at WrestleMania 42. ESPN is the broadcasting partner for WWE in the United States so Pat McAfee was included in the WrestleMania build. There are still 2 weeks of SmackDown left and WWE can make sense of this alliance but the WWE fans on Twitter are now saying that Brock Lesnar vs Oba Femi should main event Night 1 of WrestleMania 42. Pat McAfee is an asset whenever he is around as he brings eyeballs and ratings. WrestleMania 42 will be full of celebrities contributing in different ways.
