WrestleMania 42 is taking shape and there are 40 days left for the event on 18th and 19th March 2026. The 2 Main Events are finally official and the fans have different reactions to their announcements. The four biggest WWE superstars of today will be competing in these Matches. 


Let’s talk about the 2 Main Events for WrestleMania 42


Roman Reigns vs CM Punk for World Heavyweight Championship

The Main Event for WrestleMania 42 Night 2 is the match for the World Heavyweight Championship. It will be Roman Reigns vs CM Punk. It will be the first time that the World Heavyweight Championship will be in the main event of WrestleMania over the WWE Championship in over a decade. Roman Reigns won the 2026 Royal Rumble Match and he chose CM Punk to face at WrestleMania 42. These two men have had 2 promo segments and both of them have been special. They have shown why they are the 2 biggest stars in WWE. The fans are very happy with the build and there are still six weeks left and Roman Reigns will be on Raw for 4 of those weeks. Last week CM Punk went very personal with Ronan Reigns and all bets are off. The main event of WrestleMania 41 Night 2 was John Cena vs Cody Rhodes which was very disappointing. Triple H has made a massive improvement for the year but the ticket sales are very low. CM Punk will have his first WrestleMania 42 Night 2 Main Event.


Cody Rhodes vs Randy Orton for WWE Championship

The main event for WrestleMania 42 Night 1 has finally been decided. It will be the winner of the 2026 Elimination Chamber Randy Orton vs Cody Rhodes who won the WWE Championship against Drew Mcintyre on SmackDown. The fans have always wanted Cody Rhodes vs Randy Orton ever since he returned to WWE 4 years ago. However Drew Mcintyre worked hard and became the WWE Champion in Front of fans for the first time so him having a short reign does not still right with the fans. Drew Mcintyre could have gone to WrestleMania 42 as the WWE Champion and it could have been a triple threat match for the WWE Championship. Triple H and WWE decided that one on one matches are the way to go. Randy Orton is the mentor of Cody Rhodes and this will be a well built feud. Cody Rhodes will get booked by everyone as Randy Orton will be the true babyface in this feud leading into WrestleMania 42. Triple H has 6 weeks to erase the negativity and the unhappiness of the fans. The main event of Night 1 has a harder job to sell itself to the WWE fans. This is a position that Cody Rhodes is not used to being in.
