WrestleMania 42 is getting stacked week by week and another title match has been added to WrestleMania 42. The United States Championship has finally found its place at the Grandest stage of them all. However the WWE fans are divided on this and WWE could be forced to make this match a triple threat match. WrestleMania 42 will take place on 18th and 19th April 2026.
Let’s look at the United States Championship Match at WrestleMania 42
Sami Zayn vs Trick Williams is Official
Carmelo Hayes was the United States Champion and he was doing excellent work as the champion and it was looking like he would have a big title match at WrestleMania 42. However there was a feud which was brewing and it was between Sami Zayn vs Trick Williams. These two men had been having verbal arguments and Trick Williams was making fun of Sami Zayn for not having a match at WrestleMania 42. Things got to a head in the latest episode of SmackDown. Nick Aldis first gave Trick Williams the match for the United States Championship for WrestleMania 42. He would face the winner of the United States Championship open challenge by Carmelo Hayes.
Carmelo Hayes was there on SmackDown and he issued an Open Challenge and it was Sami Zayn who answered it. There was concern amongst the WWE fans that Sami Zayn could win the title. This was a fantastic match and anybody could have won but it was the experience of Sami Zayn that prevailed and he is the United States Champion. This result has not gone down well amongst the WWE fans as they wanted Carmelo Hayes to be the United States Champion going into WrestleMania 42 as he has been an excellent champion. If WWE wanted Sami Zayn in this match at WrestleMania then they could have had Trick Williams cause a DQ and made a triple threat for WrestleMania 42.
Trick Williams will be the babyface for the fans even though he is the heel in the storyline. Sami Zayn is one of the nicest people in WWE but fans have started to turn against him because WWE books him to look so strong against younger talent like Carmelo Hayes. Triple H should have had Trick Williams cause a DQ and face both of them for the title at WrestleMania 42. The fans will have to get behind Carmelo Hayes the way they were with Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40 to make sure that the former champion gets into the match. Sami Zayn vs Trick Williams will be an excellent match but professional wrestling only works when the WWE fans care for all the wrestlers in the match. The good thing is that there are still 3 weeks left and WWE can make this work. Trick Williams will get one of the loudest reactions at WrestleMania 42 and the fans will chant Whoop That Trick all the time. Sami Zayn cannot be a babyface and there needs to be a double turn if the match will be one on one at WrestleMania 42.
