WWE have ended their relationship with TNA
WWE and TNA entered into a working relationship 2 years ago. This was one of the biggest wrestling stories of 2024. It doesn’t happen that two major companies operating out of the USA come together to produce weekly shows and appear in each other’s PPVs. It was known that this partnership was done keeping in mind the threat that AEW was posing to both companies. Therefore, TKO and TNA wrestling decided that it would be best to come together.
In these initial months of the relationship, wrestlers from both companies used to appear in each other’s Shows. There was even an invasion angle that TNA did with NXT. Mustafa Ali finally got the NXT North American Championship Match that was owed to him. Leon Slater became a much bigger star thanks to him appearing regularly on WWE TV.
Nic Nemeth competed as Dolph Ziggler in the tournament to decide the last opponent for John Cena. The Hardy Boys returned to WWE to compete in a ladder match for the TNA and NXT Tag Team Championship. Trick Williams won the TNA World Championship and Kelani Jordan won the TNA Knockouts Title. Peyton Royce and Billie Mckay returned to WWE for one night, and everything was right in the world. Frankie Kazarian, Moose, Ash by Elegance and others competed in a WWE Ring.
From NXT, Je’Von Evans went to TNA to compete for the X Division Championship, and AJ Styles returned to TNA at Slammiversary in 2025. There are so many great moments that took place between the two companies during the partnership. However, it has run its course. The final nail in the coffin was the fact that WWE announced the return of The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, and tag teams from WWE's main roster, NXT and AAA, were confirmed, but none from TNA. This was surprising because if the relationship was intact, then there would have been tag teams from TNA.
Dave Meltzer is right when he says that the relationship is over. It has been 6 months since any crossover Event has happened. The ultimate winner from this whole situation is AEW. They saw that these two companies came together to combat them, but then the results were not promising, so they ended that relationship. In the future there is a chance that WWE and TNA can again work together, but it looks to be far away.
