Shakib Al Hasan 1st Bangladesh Bowler To Reach 300 ODI Wickets Milestone

During the last game of the three-match home ODI series against England, Bangladesh avoided getting whitewashed by claiming a 50-run win, majorly thanks to Shakib Al Hasan’s all-round performances. In that same match, Shakib completed 300 ODI wickets and became the first Bangladesh bowler to reach this milestone.

It was a part of the ongoing ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League 2020-2023. Chattogram hosted that last game of the series, but the visitors England already secured the series by winning the first two games at Mirpur (by three wickets and 132 runs respectively).

In the last game of the series, the hosts Bangladesh chose to bat first. After the early dismissals of the openers, Najmul Hossain Shanto (53), wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim (70) and Shakib Al Hasan (75) helped the home team to manage the first innings total of 246 all out in 48.5 overs.

In reply, England were bowled out for 196 runs in 43.1 overs. After scoring the highest runs for the team in the first batting, Shakib ended the game with the bowling figures of 10-0-35-4. The left-arm spinner completed his 300 ODI wickets after dismissing the ODI debutant Rehan Ahmed (2).
