Kenyan star Emmanuel Wanyonyi, the Paris 2024 gold medalist, claimed his fourth successive Diamond League title with a meet record in the men’s 800m race in the 2026 Diamond League Final in Brussels. It was among the Diamond+ events in the Final.
Danish star Wilson Kipketer previously held the meet record for a long time while finishing the men’s 800m race in 1:42.20 in Bruxelles 1997. Wanyonyi bettered the record in Brussels by finishing the race in 1:41.80.
Algerian Djamel Sedjati (1:42.71) and French Yanis Meziane (1:42.87) closely fought to grab the second and third places, respectively, while the French runner recorded his personal best.

Who is Emmanuel Wanyonyi?
Kenyan Emmanuel Wanyonyi claimed his fourth successive Diamond League title. He won the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics gold medal and the World Athletics Championships 2025.
In the 2026 Diamond League season, Emmanuel Wanyonyi claimed three wins before the Brussels Final in the middle-distance running events, including winning two men’s 800m events (one men’s 1000m event).
