Biomechanics is considered a subfield within the broader discipline of kinesiology, or the study of how people move. Biomechanics is largely a research discipline, but practical applications exist as well. Employment is projected to rise by 27 percent due to an aging population that wants to stay active, hence making it a good career preference.
