Medal Contenders for the Indian Boxing Squad for Commonwealth Games 2022

After talking about the medal hopes from the Badminton team in the Commonwealth Games it is now time to talk about the boxing team which generally is a very strong one in the Commonwealth Games every edition and this time it is no different and there are 12 boxers who will represent India in various events and will be looking to secure a medal for India at these Games. The female and the male boxers both this time are in equal strength and both have lots of options for Medals for India which is a great thing.

Before we talk about the medal hopes I need to tell that I love watching boxing because it is 9 minutes of action, strategy and skills in which the boxer has to win a bout. So, with all that being said let’s see the medal hopes in Boxing for India.

Nikhat Zareen- Women’s 50 Kg

Nikhat Zareen is one of the brightest medal hopes for India as far as boxing is concerned because recently she won the World Championship Gold Medal which is the toughest competition in boxing and she is in red hot form and she will look to win another Gold for India and make India Proud yet again. She should win her matches 5-0.

Lovlina Borgohain- Women’s 70 Kg

The bronze medalist from Tokyo Olympics last year and someone who is a serious medal hope this time around as well and she will be looking to stamp her authority early in the competition and win the Gold Medal for India in preparation for the Paris Olympics where she wants to win the Gold.

Amit Panghal – Men’s 51 Kg

Even though Amit Panghal is not going through the best of times in his boxing career he cannot be ruled out at any point especially in this Commonwealth Games as he will be looking to make a statement after the dismal performance in the Tokyo Olympics last year and win a medal for India in boxing. It will be a big confidence booster for him as well.

Mohammad Hussamuddin-Men’s 57 Kg

He is also one of the serious medal hopes for India this time around as he was the Bronze Medalist at the 2018 Asian Games and he will look to upgrade the color of the medal to most preferably Gold at these Commonwealth Games and the whole of India will be behind him as he does that.

Ashish Choudhary – Men’s 80 Kg

He is another medal hope for India at these Commonwealth Games and he is in fine form leading into these Commonwealth Games and he will be looking to dominate his opponents and make a big name for himself by winning the Gold Medal for India in boxing.

Shiva Thapa – Men’s 63.5 Kg

The last of my Medal hopes in Boxing is the experienced Shiva Thapa and he has been our of the spotlight for a while now and he is in full training mode and he will look to win a Gold Medal for India and make himself proud as well as he is a decorated boxer for India.
