After winning the T20I series in the ongoing England tour, India have started the ODI series in a very strong way as the visitors thrashed the hosts by 10 wickets in the series opener of the three-match ODI series.
The Oval hosted the first game of this series last Tuesday (12th July). After the Indian captain, Rohit Sharma, sent England to bat first, the hosts were bundled out for just 110 runs in 25.2 overs.
In reply, the visitors chased down that little target in 18.4 overs without losing any wicket (114/0). With this ten wickets win, the Men in Blues have taken the 1-0 lead in this series with two to go.

The Indian right-arm pacer Jasprit Bumrah won the Player of the Match award for managing the dominant bowling figures of 7.2-3-19-6.
Best ODI bowling figures by an Indian bowler against England. The previous record was 10-0-23-6 by Ashish Nehra at Durban on 26th February 2003.

Indian pacers took all the ten wickets in the first innings of this ODI. Apart from Jasprit Bumrah’s six-far (6/19), Mohammed Shami got three wickets (3/31) and Prasidh Krishna took one wicket (1/26).
It was the only second time in ODI history when India pacers took all the ten wickets in an innings against the hosts. The first incident happened against Bangladesh at Mirpur on 17th June 2014.
