India created history by winning the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 after beating New Zealand in the Final by four wickets at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on last Sunday (March 9).
New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner chose to bat first, and the Blackcaps scored 251/7 in 50 overs. Indian spinners bowled impressively in the Final. In reply, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma provided a powerful start, as the Player of the Match scored 76 off 83 balls with the help of seven fours and three sixes, and India reached the target in 49 overs after losing six wickets.
For his impressive all-round performances, New Zealand cricketer Rachin Ravindra won the Player of the Tournament award as he finished as the leading run-scorer (263 runs) and also picked up three wickets.

Here are some key records in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025
India became the first team to win the ICC Champions Trophy three times. They won the trophy in the 2002 edition as the joint winners with the hosts Sri Lanka and the 2013 edition.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma became the second captain to win the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup (2024) and the ICC Champions Trophy (2025). The first skipper was the former Indian captain MS Dhoni, under whom India won the ICC World T20 2007 and ICC Champions Trophy 2013.
Out of their five matches in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, India bowled out their opponents four times. India became the first team to bowl out opponents more than three times in an ICC Champions Trophy edition.

In the same England vs Australia Group B match in Lahore, Australia successfully chased the 352-run target by scoring the highest ICC Champions Trophy total 356/5 (47.3 overs). It was the first 350+ successful chase in the ICC ODI tournament history.
During the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 second Semi-final, New Zealand scored 362/6 in 50 overs against South Africa. It is the new record for the highest total in ICC Champions Trophy history and the third highest total in the knockout stages in ICC ODI tournaments history.
