The former Indian selector and BCCI Secretary, Sanjay Jagdale, has applauded that the contribution of Anil Kumble to Indian Cricket as a captain and then as a coach later with great numbers is “Unreplaceable”. During the selection of Indian Cricket Coach in 2016 when Anil Kumble name was also in the list, Sanjay Jagdale conducted the Cricket Advisory committee (CAC) and in which Anil Kumble was selected as a head coach for team India.

“We had shortlisted five people (for the coach's role). Ravi Shastri, Anil Kumble, Tom Moody, Lalchand Rajput and Pravin Amre were all good candidates. He (Kumble) was picked and did a fantastic job as a coach. See the track record,” said Jagdale in his recent Facebook Live interaction.

“That (one year) was decided by the BCCI and not the committee. BCCI also decided on the other terms and conditions,” he added, speaking on the length of Kumble's contract.

With Anil Kumble as a head coach team India has been into ICC No.1 Test Rankings during his tenure period. It was the same time when team India had won a series against West Indies in their own domain. Anil Kumble was also the part of series against Australia, England and New Zealand and helped the team. Anil Kumble captaincy lasted till champions trophy 2017 final where team India was lost by arch-rivals Pakistan. As there was some news from the reports that Virat kohli and Anil Kumble have conversations which led the head coach role to take exit from team India. Soon after Ravi Shastri was the new head coach of team India. Even the exit of Anil Kumble from team India as a head coach was wrong and unexpectable which was even believed by the player like Gautam Gambhir. He said there has to be the reason which was given to the public for sacking up the coach. Gautam Gambhir strongly condemned that if there has been ever biggest match-winner in the Indian Cricket History then it has been definitely one and only Anil Kumble. Unlucky Anil Kumble was part of team India for a shorter period otherwise team India was at a different level. Here are the words from Gautam Gambhir about the Anil Kumble when he was interaction in the recent times –

Here was the another interaction when Gautam Gambhir has reckoned Anil Kumble - Virat kohli argument was the darkest periods in the Indian Cricket –

SANJAY JAGDALE ROLE IN ANIL KUMBLE CAPTAINCY:

During 2007 October, When Anil Kumble was appointed as the captain of the team India, Sanjay Jagdale was the selector of selection policy. There was a moment when Ravi Shastri (Commentator turned head coach) and I had the same opinions to select Anil Kumble as a captain.

“It was in Mohali. Dilip (Vengsarkar) was a fantastic chairman (of selectors). I had already given my opinion (about Kumble) to Dilip when we were picking the team and its captain. When I was into the conversation Ravi (Shastri) who also advocated for him (Kumble), and I told him that I am also of the same opinion,” recalled Jagdale.

During 2007, MS Dhoni was appointed as the captain for the limited overs fixtures who also captained team India in the inaugural season of T-20 World cup 2007. Rahul Dravid left the captaincy after the England Tour and captain for the test team was still not sure so the selectors decided during the second test between India and Pakistan to appoint Anil Kumble as a captain after which team India has won the test series and also won the Perth Test Match after the famous Monkeygate.
