Sri Lanka, former ODI and T20I World Cup champions, have to prove many things in the new year 2026, where they have some challenging tasks. Meanwhile, it is also going to be an exciting year for the Lankans as they are co-hosts for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 along with India. 


Here, we are checking the complete cricket schedule for Sri Lanka in the calendar year of 2026. 


January: Pakistan tour of Sri Lanka

  • 3-match T20I series

It will be their first bilateral T20I series in Sri Lanka since 2016, while their first three bilateral T20I series in Sri Lanka ended with two in favour of Pakistan (including a one-off T20I match) and the other one ended in a draw. 


January-February: England tour of Sri Lanka

  • 3-match ODI series

  • 3-match T20I series

Sri Lanka won their last home bilateral ODI series against England in 2014. After that, they played one more bilateral ODI series in Sri Lanka in 2018, which England won. 


It will be the first time Sri Lanka and England will be involved in a bilateral T20I series in Sri Lanka with more than one game, while their only one-off T20I commitment in Sri Lanka in 2018 ended in England’s favour. 


February 7 – March 8: ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 (Hosts India and Sri Lanka)


March: Sri Lanka tour of Afghanistan

  • 3-match ODI series

  • 3-match T20I series

In their three overall bilateral ODI series, all in Sri Lanka, the first one had a draw result in 2022, and Sri Lanka won the last two in 2023 and 2024. 


Sri Lanka and Afghanistan have been involved in only one bilateral T20I series in 2024 in Sri Lanka, which Sri Lanka won. 


June-July: Sri Lanka tour of West Indies

  • 2-match Test series

  • 3-match ODI series

  • 3-match T20I series

Sri Lanka have never won a bilateral Test series against the hosts West Indies, but drew the last three Test series, losing a series last time in 2003. 


Sri Lanka have recorded only two bilateral ODI series wins against the hosts West Indies, last time in 2003. The Lankans have lost their last two away ODI series against West Indies.   


In their only bilateral T20I series in the West Indies in 2021, Sri Lanka suffered a series defeat.  


August: India tour of Sri Lanka

  • 2-match Test series

Hosts Sri Lanka won their last bilateral Test series against India in 2008. After that, the hosts Sri Lanka have drawn one Test series and lost the last two Test series against India. 


September: Sri Lanka tour of England

  • 3-match ODI series

  • 3-match T20I series

Sri Lanka won their last bilateral ODI series against the hosts England in 2014. After that, Sri Lanka have suffered the last two bilateral ODI series defeats against the hosts England. 


After Sri Lanka won one-off T20Is thrice against the hosts England, they suffered their last two bilateral T20I series defeats against the hosts England, including a one-off T20I series. 


November: Sri Lanka tour of Pakistan

  • 2-match Test series

Sri Lanka won their last bilateral Test series against the hosts Pakistan in 2000. Since then, there are two Test series draw results before losing the last Test series in Pakistan in 2019. 


December: Sri Lanka tour of India

  • 3-match ODI series

  • 3-match T20I series

Sri Lanka have never won a bilateral ODI series against the hosts India, recording 10 losses and only one series draw in 1997, while the Lankans have lost all the last six away ODI series against India. 


Sri Lanka have never won a bilateral T20I series against the hosts India. Apart from their first series draw in India, the Lankans have lost all the last five T20I series against the hosts India.
