There have been a lot of cricket teams that have dominated a lot in their time and have won a lot of events and a lot of matches and no other team looked to be close to their. For example the West Indies cricket team from the 1970s till the 1980s was a team that was the best in the world and very few cricket teams could compete against them and they had some of the best players in the world. Then there was the Australian men’s cricket team from the 1990s till the late 2000s and they won almost everything that came their way but none of these teams are the best ever.
The Australian women’s cricket team has been on an unstoppable streak since the 2000s and it has not stopped in almost 20 years and they have just had some of the best cricketers play for them and they had such a ruthless winning mentality that nobody has been able to compete against them.
So, let’s look at the reasons as to why this team is the best of all time:
World Class Players from top to bottom
The Australian women’s team has had a string of world class players who have played for yhek over the decades and this has been the reason for their Domination for so many years. First they had players like Lisa Sthelekar, Mel Jones who were pioneers and then they had the likes of Elysse Perry, Meg Lanning, Alyssa Healy, Beth Mooney etc who are still in the core team and they have gotten better . And the newer generation of players such as Ashleigh Gardener, Tahila McGrath, Grace Harris and Annabelle Sutherland are adding depth to the squad. Players like Rachael Haynes and Megan Schutt were also some of the best players.
They do not know how to lose
As it is said that winning is a habit and this Australian team has had a great habit of winning everything and that has come at the cost of all the other teams. They have won 6 T20I World Cups which is simply mind boggling and they have made the final 7 out of 8 times . They have also won multiple ODI World Cups and most recently in 2013,2022. And they look like they will not be stopping anytime soon .
Their longevity and togetherness is an example
Perhaps the most important reason why they are the best team of all time because for almost a decade there has hardly been any changes that have been made to this all star team and there is no need to change anything and they just add a few players here and there to add depth and more quality to the squad and that thinking and the longevity that all of them have had and by playing so much domestic cricket and the WBBL it has prepared them for all situations. And with the WPL starting hopefully India can be the team to challenge their supremacy.
