The year 2022 was not a great year for Indian cricket to be honest and the Indian team did not learn from its mistakes that they made in 2021 and thus in 2022, they faced the same fate and this year test cricket was also on a decline which was one of the strongest points for Team India. So, 2023 has to be a better year for the home of World cricket and this will be a defining year and it has already started on 1st January

In 2023 both Men’s cricket and Women’s cricket will see some moments that will define their long term run and so BCCI does not want to take any chances this year as 3 ICC events are there and India has a good chance of winning all 3. So, let’s look at the reasons why 2023 will be a defining year for Indian cricket.

Women’s Cricket could rise exponentially

Firstly there will be the Women’s ICC T20I Women’s World Cup and this will be a big tournament for the Indian team because this is the best chance for the Indian team to win this World Cup and if they do Women’s cricket will rise in India like it happened for Men’s cricket after 1983. The team is great and well balanced. And we cannot forget about the much awaited Women’s IPL that will start from this year and 6 teams with the best players will fight it out and this will give Women’s cricket in India much needed popularity and boost.

Two ICC Events for attaining immortality

Firstly India will most likely make the final of the World Test Championship and they would like to be the kings of test cricket which would put them in a league of their own and be the only ICC trophy left to win for the likes of Cheteshwar Pujara, Ravichandran Ashwin etc. Then there is the 2023 ODI World Cup which will be the biggest event of the year and it will be held in India so India will be among the favorites to win the biggest trophy in cricket. If they win both trophies then immortality awaits them. India could be the first team to simultaneously hold the Test and ODI Cricket ICC Trophies.

Greater importance to Domestic Cricket and A Tours

Since the last 3-4 years the Ranji Trophy had become not so important as the young players wanted to play the IPL and get selected in the Indian team but in the review meeting held yesterday it was decided to give more importance to Domestic cricket be It Ranji Trophy or Syed Mushtaq Ali or Vijay Hazare Trophy and the India A Tours are back there Team India got so many of the players who perform so well for India. So, a bigger importance to Domestic cricket will also define Indian cricket this year.
