More goals could have eased up the pressure ahead of the second leg although Villarreal have gained enough experience to defy the odds again. Regardless of their domestic form, Villarreal are turning out to be more than underdogs in Europe. If they emerge victoriously, it will be the first time Emery gets to taste a semifinal round of the Champions League and cause another uproar in the process.

For Villarreal, Alberto Moreno is the only long term absentee while Boulaye Dia is a doubt for this clash. The Senegal international is struggling with a muscular issue.
