In a repeat of the 2019 Copa America final, Brazil faces Peru in the semifinals this time to play the showpiece for consecutive editions. Also, these two are locking horns for the second time in this competition after playing each other in the group stages. Winners of the tie are going to face whoever triumphs in the meeting between Argentina and Colombia in the other semifinal.
Brazil dispatched Chile 1-0 in the quarterfinal stage with Lyon's Lucas Paqueta netting the only goal of the game. The 23-year-old came on the pitch as a substitute after half-time and scored within a minute of being on the pitch. Two minutes after a dangerously high boot challenge from Gabriel Jesus forced a red card from the referee causing a dip in Brazil's control of the game. Goalkeeper Ederson became in charge to keep the lead intact until the end as the 10 man side sat back and allowed Chile to dictate the game. A Vargas goal chalked offside before Brereton header hit the crossbar and the Manchester City keeper was put into action late in the game to deny Meneses. With huffs and puffs, Brazil holds on to claim the victory.

The latter was also the man of the match against Paraguay so both are automatic choices. Lucas Paqueta's goal springboard Brazil to this stage and has shown signs to start the fixture. Peru are relieved to see Lapadula scoring for them after a long wait while Neymar is yet to find the back of the net in the knockout stages.

Peru has turned itself into quite a force in the last few years and can be a tricky opposition on their day. However, Brazil cannot lose from here as they eye back to back Copa America finals. So the result will fall in their favor as in the last two meetings between the sides in a major tournament.
